Basic employment checks are more often carried out by employers than in the past. This is due to a number of reasons, including concerns about negligent termination actions. However, substantive reviews do not provide all the information sought by many employers. If you are interviewing for a new job, you can count on some of these requests for information: the employer must keep the candidate`s personal data confidential. The applicant must receive a copy of the background to verify or update the information that appears on the background test. The employer cannot keep the information more than necessary. The employer must give a code of conduct to anyone in contact with the information provided by the applicant. The company must be audited to ensure that they respect and protect the data.  Note that HR/Hiring Manager will consider convictions and not arrests during a candidate`s background examination. What`s in a background staff review? The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) sets employment screening standards. FCRA defines a background review as a consumer report. Before an employer can receive a consumer report or perform a credit quality check for employment purposes, they must notify you in writing and obtain your written authorization. In some countries, there are limits that employers can check.
Surveys show that up to 95% of employers require workers to undergo some kind of background review during the hiring process, including sometimes a credit quality audit. In most cases, background reviews cost time and money. We advise managers and staff to carry out the checks sparingly, preferably during the last round of candidates shortlisted in the hiring process or a candidate they have recruited. Local laws may require a candidate to have an offer in hand before requesting permission for a background examination. We respect all laws.
